I believe in the practice of casting a wide net from the get go, to reel in the best catch. Granted, I will have to deal with a multitude of indigestible garbage and an occasional shopping cart or human carcass, but this way, I can taste-test a wide range of shows, before settling with what to follow, drop or slot into my watchlist.
It’s because of this practice, that I usually start the season running with a dozen shows at least, before it dwindles into 3 or 4 shows I will still be following weekly after 5 or 6 rounds. The shows I stopped following and my reasoning vary, from ‘It’s not my type of show’ to ‘this will look great on 1080p BD’… or ‘This is too epic to NOT marathon’. There’s also added dilemma in what shows work better with a English dub. Then there’s the always fascinating slew of Funimation broadcast dubs. We are definitely in the future.
If you have a) any knowledge of moe and slice of life, b) a love for moe and slice of life, c) an intense hatred for moe and slice of life, or d) read enough of my posts to notice a common pattern in subject matters, then you would be aware of the basic recipe for success of such shows: the construction of a world that’s charming and relaxing, and a cast of characters who are teeth-rottingly adorable.
Perhaps the best way to describe Kyoto Animation’s venture with Hibike! Euphonium is by literally contradicting myself: it is a work of complex simplicity. The emotional dissonance that exists, when a large group of individuals come together is typical of the atmosphere that you may find in a musical ensemble. Long story short, this OVA works as an alternate perspective provider on the emotional climax towards the latter end of the series, and it does it superbly.
The thing about choosing home cities and time zones: The mere fact that you live 12 hours in the future of most U.S. release dates (which for some reason, are all the important ones for Pop culture), means that sometimes, you get to be part of a worldwide Funomenon (shameless plug haw haw haw): being among the first in the world to watch the newest Star Wars film. Interestingly enough, the most bizarre thing about this entire adventure saga for me personally, actually came from the ticket booking incidents. Sure, I will talk about my thoughts on the movie (FYI it was good, so no worries!), but being the ranter that I am, I need to start from the beginning: how a Star Wars casual scum suddenly decided to supposedly fight teeth and bones to watch the film on the 17th of December, a day ahead the rest of the world?

Final say: CERTIFIED FUNOMENAL
The iyashikei genre of anime has been a sanctuary for this writer/photographer/student, ever since joining the anime fandom a year ago; the seemingly effortless grace of the shows I’ve watched from this genre can be proud to include Tamayura, as well. This OVA’s magnum opus is its gentle atmosphere, which works to inflict the viewer with subtle urges of artistic inspiration without obvious implications of preachiness.
Needless to say, lovers of gentle shows with a curious artistic devotion to the normality of human lives, and with no difficultly twisted plots and characters, will find a lot to indulge upon here. It is certainly a love letter to all artists, and one which all recipients should accept and embrace.
The renowned director’s newest film, Kimi no Na wa | Your Name, will be debuting August 2016, featuring staff including Movie Director Shunji Iwai (Hana to Alice: Satsujin Jiken) and main casts, Ryuunosuke Kamiki and Moka Kamishiraishi.

Essentially, these are the best of a bunch of photos I took, intended on experimenting with Lightroom for some creative artistic results without distorting the original too much.
Had some fun playing with colour temperature, selective focus and post-process adjustments.
Another little experiment on selective focusing, utilising the light-bending nature of water in a glass. Also achieved some interesting textures and colour combinations with certain areas left B&W.
Now you have a basic idea of how my mind works with space and how it triggers creativity: anything to do with light distortions, incidental placings of objects and colours can be subjects of my images. Of course, I do have my share of love for grand landscapes and architecture, but sometimes, little things are interesting, too.
There’s a general consensus, that photographs are just fragments of frozen time and moments, nothing more. We take them on a whim, hoping to save a split second of amazement or amusement, and in a world where social media and smartphones rule societies, it seems that the significance of photographs are becoming less…intimate.
In reality, there exists an almost…interdimensional relationship between a photo, its subject and the photographer: there’s a REASON WHY a photo was taken and WHY this particular subject was chosen, framed and shot. These actions acuminate from personal emotions and attachments between the documenter and the documented. Photographs that are…truly wonderful are those that had managed to capture a fragment of heartfelt fervour when the shutter button was pushed…or where a moment of preciousness fluttering through the air was captured permanently onto a single, perfect image.
